Hey y'all,

I want a 6M TDI jetta sportwagen. I want it. :D
But there's one available within a 300 mile radius and I'm not impressed with the carfax :(

So... I'm looking at a 2014 jetta sportwagen TDI with DSG. It's at 39k so I know the BIG service is due, and I know I'll need to budget for more service/repair costs with a DSG than 6M.

It is still worth it to go TDI DSG vs gasser? I drive about 20k miles per year.
Thanks!

Is it at a dealer? I would point out that the service due at 40k is $750. Try to negotiate that back if you decide on this one.

If you really want a manual, I'd shop around until you find a nice one at a good price.

Dsg does drive nice. But you are aware of higher service costs. The other drawback is lower highway Mpg. 5th gear in the 6M is about the same rpms as 6th gear in the DSG.

I think you will find most TDI owners are in your yearly mileage range +20k/year. Some much more then that....

Find a competent independent shop.

If you are a highway driver probably a 6m,if city or traffic I would go DSG. Mileage difference isn't that much in stop and go usage. I get about 40 MPG on highway with DSG going speed limit.

...admitting to some bias - I would second Donald and C'Head ($DSG 40k svc fee/DSG higher RPM at freeway speeds - my choice would seem obvious........

ez, hoping for a decent outcome to this emissions zoo.......................
