Hi, have a VW Golf Mk5 2.0 GT Tdi 140, when I bought it it had been remapped, the remap is too aggressive and keeps destroying Turbo's.
Does anyone know if the ECU can be reset to factory settings using VAGCOM. I have been told it can but have been unable to find any procedure on the internet. Cheers,

Hi thanks for the reply.
Do you know if I fit a used ECU from another car whether Vagcom / VCDS will be able to alter the settings to allow the Engine ECU to communicate with the Instrument Cluster.

Thanks

You'll need the secret code (SKC) from the cluster and you want an ECU same part no.
The code can be read with VAGtacho and can be input using VCDS. I don't believe VCDS will show you the code that's there now, could be wrong.

It can be flashed back to stock with VW dealer software ODIS, and a VAS5054a tool. (These are the factory tools of which VCDS is a very good copy of.)

A good tuner can fix your issues or return to stock as well, but not using factory tools.
