GT TDI cut out and won’t start

Hi all, new member but been lingering for a while!

I’ve recently bought a golf gt tdi on a 56 plate, has a BMN engine in it.

Started fine the other day and as soon as I attempted to reverse out of the drive it cut out, and hasn’t started since. Had a timing belt and water pump 4 days prior along with a service.

Plugged it in to a code reader and I get a P1496 fault which I believe relates to the EGR. Unplugged the EGR and I still get nothing, almost as if the battery is dead as the dash begins to flicker and go flash all sorts while I try and turn it over.

Anybody have any ideas or suffered similar?

Does it crank and not start, or not crank?

It will crank yes, attempted a bump start also and that didn’t work.

The car has 137k on it by the way I forgot to mention
