I had the front end off the car yesterday for radiator fans and condenser/drier replacement. The air snorkel snow screen deal was in pieces, and/or missing. Must have been in an accident and repaired poorly.

Anyways, the only intact tube was the one to the airbox, although the mounting tab was broken, and it was just flopping around. So I opted to remove it, which involved removing the headlight housing to get it out.

The good news is the ac works. Bad news is it has a real annoying low tone drone now.

I understand the stock airbox is more than capable, even with increased horsepower. My airbox is a pile of crap, though, flopping around with all the mounts broken off. Since I am already sucking underhood air, will an open element air filter help the drone at all? I really don't want to tear it back apart and install a new snorkel......
