SOLD! 1/2/4/2016 thanks

We have been the sole owners of this Jetta, which was purchased at Quirk Motors in Quincy, Massachusetts. We are selling in order to make room for a vehicle that can be flat towed behind our RV. VW does not approve towing. This Jetta lived in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania for first three years of its life and was used for commuting, and the last ten have been in Key West, mostly used for short distances, errands around the Keys. It has not been subjected to any Florida flooding/hurricane issues.
Mechanically the car is in excellent condition and has been well maintained. All maintenance records are available, including a record of every oil change (synthetic) and every tank of fuel. One glow plug needs to be replaced (starts and runs perfectly, we don’t need this in Florida). The headliner has detached from the roof, we have secured it with stays. There are a couple of minor door dings and a small dent in the passenger side front door. New Michelin tires were installed at 44,700 miles.
We have the title in hand are asking $4200 (cash) but will entertain reasonable offers

Details
Mileage 85,150
5 Speed Manual
Black exterior and Black Cloth interior
2 key fobs and valet key
Single CD player
Windshield replaced may 2007
Maintenance:
80,000 mile service performed in July 2012 included timing belt replacement, new water pump, new glow plug harness and one new glow plug. Serpentine drive belt replaced 11/2014; radiator cooling fan motor replaced 12/2014; A/C refrigerant and high pressure switch replaced 12/2014; right taillight, bumper and quarter panel repaired after ‘parking lot’ incident.
I have pictures, but can't figure out how to upload. I can email them if you contact me

We too tried to buy this car and we made a cash offer, but the seller seemed swamped with offers and interested / prospective buyers.

We would have loved adding this car to our family.
At the end of the day; we just could not get together on the price via long distance and it sold very fast.

It seemed to need a new headliner, rear antenna and most likely needed all the fluids and filters changed, new glow plugs and probably a new set of tires.

I figured at least $700 in expenses to fly down and drive it home and then another $1500 in repairs and updates plus all the title, tax and license fees.

Buying a car is only half of the equation.
You also have all the other expenses that come with buying and acquiring a car that is nearly thirteen model years old.

This is precisely why old cars that need tons of work like timing belts, tires, suspension work, inoperable A/C, interior and rust problems are so hard to sell. When you add up the rehab costs, some travel (if you have to), and re-titling, sellers can't expect a big sales price offer.
