Ever had a 384 A/C relay go bad twice?

A/C started to operate erractically the other day. Would cool for little while and then stop cooling. Turning it on/off didn't seem to make a difference. cools nicely when it does work. Had this same issue about 4 years ago and I replaced the 384 relay with a new one, which solved the problem. I am in Texas and the A/C gets a LOT of use.

My question is: anybody ever had to replace the 384 relay a 2nd time?

To answer your question, yes.

Yes, even after a re-solder job. The relay contains a PROM (or IC) chip and a bunch of other circuitry so there are other reasons #384 can fail besides cold solder joints.

Ok, so maybe not forever, but more often than not the failure will be the solder joint, if it hasn't been previously repaired.

I'm sure the Texas heat has a lot to do with it too.
