Hello,

How much should I sell my 1996 VW Passat TDI (1.9L) for?

The car is a four door sedan with burgundy exterior and grey interior.

Car has:

Manual stick, 5-speed
Moon roof
Air Conditioning
AM/FM/ Radio
Power Steering
Front Wheel Drive
Cruise Control
Dual Air Bags
Power Windows

I’ll begin with the negative characteristics and follow up with the positive.

Negative:
The car needs a new starter.
The instrument cluster is out: no speedometer, no odom, no fuel gauge, no clock, but dash lights work.
The radio antenna is worn.
Tape player doesn’t work.
The back left (turn signal) plastic casing is cracked.
1 Bumper sticker

Positive:

In the past two years (I’ve owned it for two years), it’s had the following done:

New Front breaks
New Back breaks
New Battery
Three new tires (the fourth was new when we bought it)
New Glow Plug Harness
New Windshield Wipers
New rear muffler
New Fuel Filter
New seals on the fuel line
All New belts (timing, serpentine, and drive) all done by VW specialist in Madison, WI

Car has had an oil change done by VW specialist every time since we purchased it.
Odometer is out but I estimate 170,000 miles on the car and I can back this up with
documentation from oil change records.

We have taken very good care of our car, but I am not intending on paying for a new
starter. The car will run on biodiesel and is an excellent commuter car that gets
approx. 45 mpg on the highway.

Car does not run without a starter so any parties interested would need to work out transportation from River Falls, WI (40 minutes from the twin cities)

Thanks!

Check the prices on Ebay. Seems like any B4 95 to 97 Passat sedan is worth $4000 or more.
