Hello. I have a 2004 Jetta wagon. With the 1.9 tdi BEW engine and, I’m trying to track a noise. It’s coming from the passenger side. I can’t tell if it’s coming from one of the pulleys, or what. But, when I turn the steering wheel some the noise goes away. Or when I’m driving the noise goes away. It’s jus when I’m at idiol or sitting at a light you can hear it. I can’t tell if it’s a bearing going out or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

I used one of these to help troubleshoot a noise to my transaxle.

There are several microphones which you clip to areas you suspect. Then you drive around wearing the headphones looking like the hugest dork. The switch lets you alternate which mic you are listening to. Whichever one has the noise loudest is closest to the noise source.
