The green was just put into the TDIClub logo for effect. TO my knowledge, there aren't any real green badges.

Last I heard, the red signified:

No red = 90 HP
Red I = 110 HP
Red DI = 130 HP
Red TDI = 150 HP

This might have changed recently... Of course, these badges only come stock on european models.

Significance of VW badges for diesels (in Europe, and I think in the whole world)

Silver SDI: 1.7, 60hp, no turbo (Lupo, Polo, Caddy)
Silver SDI: 1.9, 68hp, no turbo (Polo, Caddy, Golf)
Silver TDI: 1.9, 90hp (Caddy, Golf, Bora, Beetle, Passat, Sharan)
Green TDI: 1.2, 61hp (Lupo 3L)
Red I:1.9, 110hp (Golf, Bora, Passat, Sharan)
Red DI: 1.4, 75hp (Lupo, Polo)
Red DI: 1.9, 100hp (Golf, Bora, Passat)
Red DI: 1.9, 115hp (Golf, Bora, Passat, Sharan)
Red DI: 1.9, 130hp (Golf, Bora, Passat)
Red TDI: 1.9, 150hp (Golf (mine's like this), Bora)

If you are not confuse or tired I can say to you that there is another badge with silver TD and blue I, used on the 2.4, 102hp engine of the Transporter (minivan) and in the LT35 (cargo van)
I hope I didn't forgot anything!

Seat and Audi badge don't have the same variety or significance.

Ooops!

I missed one:

Silver V6 TDI: 2.5, 150hp (Passat)

Sorry, I always think in the 4 cylinders in first place. What will be the badge for the V10 TDI of the new D1?

Silver V10 TDI?
Silver V10 Red TDI?
Red V10 TDI? (not too elegant in a car like that...)

I would guess that if/when the US gets the v10 tdi (like in that pickup vw is talking about selling here) that the badge would probably just be silver. just my guess. a red I would still be pretty sweet looking

With Fred`s blessing, the green "T" signifies that this car is burning biodiesel. (the T in this instance stands for TERRA or earth, and the green, well you can guess that)

The red states the performance upgrade as noted in the above post.

I thought that I had seen a thread regarding the TDI badge colors and their significance, but after searcing a couple of times, I still couldn't find it again. So is there a meaning to the red and green colors and their position on the badge?

Thanks in advance.

RedT,

are you sure the LT35 with the blue I is only 102 hp?
I recently bit the dust against one of those in my 110hp Passat.
I was able to keep up more or less until about 100 km/h, then it got away from me.

What a humiliation!

Nope, the 1.6l engine is a four cylinder gas engine with either 100hp (8 valve) or 105hp (16v). The V5 you saw was actually just that, a 5 cylinder gas engine (I think it has something like 170hp).

I just ordered my Red TDI, i'll take pics when i put it on

now all i need is the 150hp engine. i figure the letters would be good enough for the first step in performance

I just UPsoluted my A4 90hp TDI.

What badge would be appropriate? I ordered the all red TDI badge, but that is not right.

I know I can put on the red I, but how about the red DI?

I guess I need to know my "new" specs having the UPsolute chip, but nothing else.

I thought the TDIClub "etiquette" was a red I for a chip/box, a red DI for both, and red TDI for anything beyond that. Technically, though, North American TDIs shouldn't go beyond the red I since we don't get the Pumpe Duese engines.

White badge?

What does white in the badge mean?
I have a TDI 4motion with a white "DI" and a white "4".

Wow, this has to be a forum record! You resurrected a sixteen year olds thread!

How did you get a TDI 4Motion? I've thought about trying to import one from Europe. Did you import yours?
