So today and few other times when I start my car after a few hours of it being cold (30-40 degrees Fahrenheit) It makes a weird khhh noise. Its like a faint grinding. It happens for 5 seconds at the most I'm just not sure what it is. I'm using winter blend diesel. Maybe it's because i'm not cycling my glow plugs? I'm really not sure.

All I really know is that it doesn't sound good. It does it after the engine has started.

Starter staying engaged for a few seconds after start-up perhaps? My Golf was doing that last year...

My serp belt tensioner buzzes on cold start-ups, but it lasts much longer than the 5 seconds the OP is reporting.

No I don't think so because when I turn the car on there is a brief 1 second pause before it starts making the noise.
