Around 350-400 EUR with 10.000 -20.000 km milleageSlight off topic, how much is that BMW turbo in Europe? I would like one
The compressor is ally. However going to weld the turbo directly to manifold. Cast iron 2 cast iron welds ok ?It is almost trivial to cut and re-angle the outlet pipe. The casting welds nicely.
People here have done this on various projects. The compressor is ally. However going to weld the turbo directly to manifold. Cast iron 2 cast iron welds ok ?
But I''ll need to weld a a steel flange on manifold for that vband and steel 2 cast iron are prone to crackCast iron can be welded however they are different grades of casts- most Garrett casts are weldable- some are even cast stainless steel (gtb2060vklr, etc). I would use the v bands supplied on the housings, they are plenty good enough for what you need. I actually seen a lot of welded turbos crack from the joint due to thermal stress, keep it simple !

We have entered the 21st century! You cannot weld cast iron. There is a process called brazing, but I don't think it will hold up for your location.
