So my '03 ALH has no working lights in the ceiling. I've checked the bulbs, filaments are in good shape, checked the fuses and based on what I can derive from the fuse card, all my fuses are in good shape.

Sunroof motor works.

Problems might have arisen from a load of water getting in (due to backed up sunroof drains or missing roof gaskets) but beyond a blown fuse I can't figure how the issue can be solved or what actually created it.

Door lights don't work in door or on position, map lights don't work.

Any ideas?

Is that your Jetta wagon?

Has the headliner been out before?

Did they work before?

I'll look up some diagrams...

Headliner is original. Everything worked about a month ago.

Going to look into the possibility that the sunroof drained into some cables behind the panel in the stearing wheel area those cables are the issue.

UPDATE:

This ended up being the issue: http://forums.tdiclub.com/showpost.php?p=4366502&postcount=21

My fix was to exposed the wire loom, found the red/blue wires (6), separated them into groups of three by sorting them from when they came from (above & below), stripped the ends fresh, then used a crimp junction connector (12-14 gauge) to make the circuit and then some heat shrink on the junction as preventative maintenance. The lights are working again.

However... the source of this issue is the sunroof drain and after some research on that, the tubing on that drain is either a) not connected at the top or b) has a hole in it. I tested the flow from the sunroof and the water wasn't exiting the blue tubing at the bottom. Regardless if the door nipple drain was connected or not seems to be a moot point (it likely wasn't) as the leak comes from above that and right past my fuse box into the cloth tape wire loom. Good thing the interior lights are the only circuit joined within that loom.

So now I have to fix the source of the issue by uninstalling the headliner and redoing the drain tube or it's connections.

These links will be helpful to those exploring the same solutions:
