2004 Jetta wagon silver-Sold, now MINI Cooper S Clubman
Hi guys--just picked up my new wagon, and it puts out a fair amount of black smoke from the exhaust. Kind of looks like of the old Mercedes diesels. Not at idle, but anything more than that will show visible exhaust. Any ideas?

edit: oops, should have been in A4 not B5 section, sorry!

for any diesel make sure you are getting good fuel, makes all the difference in the world. truck stops tend to have the highest turn over so the fuel is prob. the freshest but may not be the highest grade available. So make sure you fuel up at a diesel stop that gets alot of traffic and also one that has at least low sulfur fuel like at cenex(called roadmaster and is sometimes mixed with2-5% biodiesel). There seems to be some areas that amocobp carries higher quality diesel. This would be a good starting point.
