edit: spoke too soon re: pre-order online: its in-store purchase only this time, but stocking levels look good in my area with dozens of jugs in each store... good luck!
I just double checked and it looks like they were lazy and only took a picture of the 5w30 jug. If you click the drop down menu you can select 5w40 (if it is not already selected). When you change selections the product number and stocking levels change but the picture does not, unfortunately.is that for the 5w40 or just the 5w30 as shown in the link?
Yes it is perfect for your ALH engine.Total newb here, this would be the right grade for a 2001 mk4? I'm going to CT in an hour or so, wouldn't hurt to pick some up if so.

MotoMaster 5W40 Synthetic Diesel Engine Oil, 5L
You're right - no issues with this oil. MB (Mercedes) 228.31 is recommended, for the bluetec engine - strong Mercedes spec ...If its cj-4 spec then its at least equivalent to rotella t6
not vw spec but a lot of people run it in the alh
correct me if im wrong

T6 specs : API: CK-4, CJ-4, CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, CH-4MB: with DPF, you may use 229.31/51 and 228.51, but NOT 228.31
and geez no VW specs .... I guess it and the Motomaster oil are OK ?!? Who knew ....I have run Rotella T6 in my BRM for the better part of the last 200K km on my BRM (the "famous cam eater"). I have a total of over 400K on the car now still with the original Cam. Last 3 times (the day i bought the car and each timing belt replacement) I checked my cam, there has been no visible difference in the wear markings on the cam.
I have run T6 in my BEW no problem but when you start using Motomaster oil that is not low SAPS in a DPF equipped vehicle you will not be taking a break down the line.T6 specs : API: CK-4, CJ-4, CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, CH-4
ACEA E9; JASO DH-2; Cummins CES 20086; Volvo VDS-4.5; Detroit Fluid Specification (DFS) 93K222, Caterpillar ECF-2/ECF-3, MAN M3575, JASO MA/MA2, Allison TES 439, MB-Approval 228.31
ALL KINDS of guys here using T6 without any issues whatsoever for YEARS - tens of thousands of miles /km's. The Motomaster oil has the SAME specs .... give me a break.
HALF PRICE! SWEET! Thanks!I just went to crappy tire and they have Castrol Edge on sale, 27.99. I use the 0w40 in my alh "European Formula" VW 502 00/ 505 00, and its good for my 4 stroke snowmobile as well. That's a really good price.
