Blinker coding - oscillating rear

I saw a gti golf with the same rear end as my 15, and his hatch lights and rear fender light would oscillate while blinking.

Any ideas what coding might induce that?

The cool kids want to think that their ALTERNATING lights are similar to a mustang or audi/etc that progresses from inner to outer. Its two lights - its ALTERNATING not moving in a direction!!!
Its a stupid mod and does nothing to increase safety.
I'm not anti mod - I actually coded my lights to have five brake lights. I feel that is actually useful.

I hope that anyone stupid enough to do the latter coding gets pulled over. Those lights are not legal.

Is this a local or federal law? I've never seen anything like that in my state. My Subaru alternates its amber turn signal and the red brake light around it when I'm braking. When not braking they flash in sync. I've had police here tell me it looks good..

My 96 Gm truck front and side blinkers were like that factory.

But I do want to know the coding to enable the additional 2 brake lights.

looks cool actually

I made the changes, google search urbanjoke rear tails, V2 is the alternating turn signal. There are a lot of changes, and make sure you test it with brake on and off to ensure it is working the way it should before going out !

I find people notice it more, they dont pile up behind me at a intersection when I'm turning. All the co workers like it and think it is way more visible. You dont need the lights to show direction, just need a brain to know left blinking means turning left, right blinking turning right.

Thanks cconrad.

Surfstar, if you could link or provide changes made to enable the extras as provided in your linked videos that'd be appreciated as well! Share it all!

Also not a fan of the urban joke thing, but it's really personal taste. I just wanted my inner tails to work like the outers. I didn't want the lights to go out completely between blinks like the coding jason_ used, but once again it's just personal taste. Mine operate a lot like surfstar's, but the lights on the hatch also blink with the turn signals.

I think it's cool that these cars give you so many options. If you wanted you could have all the brake lights light up with the reverse lights or if you really didn't like someone, you could code their car and reverse their turn signals. There's no way anyone would want these things, but it's neat that it's doable. I wish it were possible on my wife's Passat.

I posted my coding yesterday http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=478893

When I find time I might re-enable the dimming between blinks, but it was a quick and easy copy and apply, for the fact of doing zero research.

I did mess 2 things up,, not from this time, even though I enable horn beep in the infotainment menus, I still get no horn on keyless locking. And coming home doesn't work even though it's set in the menu.

I'll have to poke at that later.

Anything you can do to make your intentions better known to folks behind you without confusing them is a VG idea. Please tell me on what planet alternating turns signals are ilegal. Are you one of those folks that even though they are not mandated in any of the 50 states thinks DRLs actually enhance safety/save lives? Statistic prove they don't.

I really like the idea of alternating T/Ss because it adds motion to your turn signal which would make your intentions extremly well known to those behind you. If the coding on my 2006 would allow it, I would certainly do the coding to make the T/S lights alternatly flash.

Why does the signal need to denote direction? the T/S lights are very close together and on the corner of the car making any confusion of what they mean very unlikely. I'm pretty sure any driver that did the mod would get a thumbs up from a LEO.

I went one better than that and have the SEVEN-bulb brake lights. I knocked out the rear fog "dummy" on both sides and tapped the brake wire to light it up.

I also coded it so that the outer-most bulb goes on/off completely, while the inner one(s) light up fully, but only dim to like 15% instead of 0% (off).

My issue with the alternate blinking for signal lights is that my brain is registering "left/right, left/right", even though it's only on the left (for argument's sake) side of the car.

It stands out more, but I think it also isn't as drop-dead-obvious as one side of the car blinking.
