GTD CFGB Engine into a T3
Hi All
Here in Australia, we really never got the pre 2000 Passat/A4/Golf/etc diesel. I've found a VW Passat B6 with a AWX 1.9 TDI and 5speed manual (for a flip). Am I wasting my time on using this for a conversion into my T3/Vanagon??? do I spend an extra Aus$5,000 to bring in a B5 AHU into Australia???

I guess it just depends on whether you're planning to install it @ 15 or 50 degrees. For the former, you'll either lose some interior space (due to protrusion above the decklid) or ground clearance, and for the latter you'd need to buy a fairly expensive kit to lay it over. I installed an ALH @15 and opted to just raise the van up to avoid both the decklid and ground clearance issues, but I did have to custom make everything for the installation.

There's a firm here in the US which makes a very high quality kit for the 50 degree install of late model engines http://www.foreignautosupply.com/pa...ne-conversion-basic-install-kit/#.WVE0irjvl2A If you've got the funds then this is the way to go.
