No, we've had many elections and there is rarely if ever any kind of short-term shift in fuel demand.

It wouldn't have anything to do with the hype surrounding the supposed end of the Mayan calendar toward the end of this year, would it? All the doomsday forecasters.

With the current turmoil in the Middle East, I anticipate fuel prices going up anywhere between 10 and 25 cents within the next week or two.

And if that wasn't enough, throw in the fact that I have to drive all over creation the next 2 weeks, that will ensure that prices jump. Just like they did when I bought the car!

In my area my local Shell station went down to $4.37/gallon from $4.45/gallon when I filled up last week. Prices have going up steadily for the past weeks and now this. I'll see what things looks like when I fill up in a couple of weeks.

Still $3.69 in Lake Wylie as of last night. Rug was $3.51. At 18 cents difference, it is easier to show others how these new diesels save money at the pump.

I was in Orlando this morning and aside from the 2 stations that are always high in the 408/Orange Ave area, everything was about $4.099 on Orange Ave. Those two high ones were $4.159.

Racetrac jumped to $4.099, Sunoco is still at $3.939.

Here is hoping that Hess stayed low overnight for me to top off today.

I was home for 45 minutes. Sunoco is now $4.099.

Sitting at Hess waiting for foam to settle, they are still $3.979.

And, that vent thingy is cool. I'd never hit it before, but my mileage is Gunna suck. Oh the pump just turned off.

Miles per dollar get them every time. M/$: 20mpg divided by $3.51 gives 5.7 miles per dollar on RUG. 40mpg divided by 3.69 is 10.8mi./$... for .18 more you get DOUBLE the range/$. for a RUG car to match 10.8, it would have to get 38.04mpg.

Cents per mile is a lot easier to figure and to compare.

$4.00/gallon and 40 mpg? that's 10 cents/mile.

$3.75/gallon and 25 mpg? that's 15 cents/mile.

Regular gas went up a few days ago here in Québec, it is now at around 1.47 per liter (about $5.56 a US gallon) so I was presently surprised to pay only 1.33 per liter ( $5.03 per US gallon) for my fuel at the local station.

It seems you get a pretty good deal in the 'states compared to us poor canadians :(

Although the odometer is in km and the fuel is in litres, I still work out my fuel consumption in mpg. Old habits die hard, I suppose.

RUG is dropping around here as diesel is going up.

The Wildwood station someone posted earlier is up to $4.079 as of yesterday. SInce I was out there.

My Hess is still holding at $3.979 as of 6:45 last night. I won't be able to get there until tomorrow afternoon - watch it go up!

When I drove past the truck stops north of Ocala this morning they were $4.15-17 and $4.22 for cash/credit.

When I drove back by late this afternoon they had dropped to $4.07/$4.15.

Most of the 301 stations in Hawthorn/Stark/Lawtey were in the $4.07 range, I don't know if the 301/I-10 stations dropped because we took backroads because of I-10 being closed. I would like to say that that Garmin on demand app for $2.99 paid for itself because it had me re-routed before *I* even knew I was getting off!

$4.45 at a local Arco - Santa Clara, CA. This thread makes me glad I started riding the bus.
At that price, you're paying about 11 cents a mile to drive your TDI. Most American drivers are paying 15 to 30 cents a mile. So what are you complaining about?

You have a good point, but let me put it in context- when you're an unemployed college student spending $0 still beats 11 cents per mile
