Noise in front - replaced CV\'s, wasn\'t the problem
Hi All,
I'm working on a friends 99 Jetta 2.0L with an automatic transmission. This is an A3 early 99 body style. There is a noise coming from the front left (driver's side) of the car. When driving below 40 MPH, it is not noticable. When above 40 MPH a rumbling noise can be heard while driving straight. If I turn right, it goes away, but turning left makes it worse. The pitch/frequency of the noise increases with higher speeds. Also, above 45 MPH or so, whenever I can hear it, I can feel it as well below my feet and slightly in the steering wheel.
I've replaced the drive axle on the driver's side with new CV joints on both ends - but the noise is still there.
Can someone give me an idea? Sorry this car isn't a diesel, but my car is and this forum is where I turn for advice on it.
Thanks in advance,
Justin
