Audi 4.0 TDI ASE

Hi!
Is there anyone who has any experience with 4.0 TDI ASE engine? I have some planes to use this one for motor sport and want 500hp +/-. As fare as I can see it`s similar to the 2.0TDI 1968cc engine except it`s a V8. It has also 2 ECU`s who is similar so I`ll guess it runs each side like a 4 cylinder. I have overhaul the engine, ported the cylinder head(much to gain) custom exhaust manifold`s and put on 2 GTB2260VK turbo`s. My question is: Is the CR system large enough to get this power? HP pump has no. CR/CP3S/L110/30-789S and the Injectors has no.Bosch no. 0445110158 or VAG nr.057130277M.

On paper the pump is big enough yes. what could be a restriction is the metering valve. because its a CP3 it can be driven with a different (higher) ratio to get more pump speed/fuel.

CP3S3 R90 makes 450hp easily on a 3.0 V6 tdi.

Then I`l guess the pump is big enough, but do you know anything about the injectors, this is solenoid injector as I understand and simpler to tuned up then piezo injectors.

Only injectors are problem. Pump can make it with good presupply pressure. I have 4.2tdi with 2x 2256vk. Max i have had at the moment is 540hj with some smoke and 510-520 smoke free. For city driving i would not reccomend larger turbos, but for motorsport dif.story.

Do you know what I must do with the injectors? Must I bye a different type, or change nozzle tip if so which one? What type did you use on yours, guess its a different type on the 4.2 because it has larger bore.
By the way, what have you done with your gearbox so it handles this torque?

Inj will be fine. Its only 250 hp in 2.0 equivalent you are after.. Just run healthy amount of railP 2200bar or so. This should allow lambda 1.1 at 4k with acceptable egt and stock SOI

Are the HP pump capable to produce that much pressure and will it influence on the durability on the system?

I have 2100bar with same pump as yours. No problem with max pressure so far. My 4.2 has piezo injectors..these can supply up to 70hp/cyl. Yours has solenoid afaik? These are much smaller and might need upgrading, but doi map should say how large they are. Maybe same as r4 cr?

Gearbox can take 1200nm max, at least the one in a8 4.2 tdi. Its the same as rs6 c6 and bently continental gt w12tt. It could take even more but torque converter starts to slip.
4.0 imo is not very strong base tough...we have many here with cracked pistons, chain problems and even worn valvedrive...but how knows...
This was also the reason i started with improved 4,2. Even piston design is different.

CP3 pump is very strong im running my car daily upto 450miles per week and no problems - 2.3k rail pressure.

I dont have video, but i can make it. What would you like to see?

Next year onemile i will be in lineup also. Altough highway driving/taking over is superb, 500+hp is still weak for my 2200kg car at 1/4mile.

altz1- isn`t the piston inn the 4.0 same as the one in 2.0(1968cc) and they take 250hp without much problem.
I have bought a new chain and pulleys because off this problem and this should bee a better one. I have also change all the rocker arms because I have seen the problems with those.

Does anyone know how much rev this engine can handle, red zone starts at 4500rpm. What is limiting more rev`s.

Does anyone know which piston from 2.0 tdi fits or is the same as the 4.0 tdi ASE engine? Why I`m asking is because 2.0 tdi piston is half the price then 4.0 tdi.

altz1: did you make your own program on the ECU? I`v heard that its difficult to get the turbo`s to communicate correct.

Yes, i made my own programming. Not sure about 4.0, but 4.2 was rather different then 3.0 for example. Many limiters on the way after 2750mbar.

You will need to find nozzles for your car bfore the turbo upgrade. Stock nozzles are tiny solenoid ones.

Thanks, how much can I get out of these nozzle? Can I in case use such as standing in a 4.2 tdi BVN engine (have 8 such laying) but they are Piezo the other one is solenoid, it is possible to use these?

I would guess they go to 370-380hp max. With long injection time
