[*] 4M video supports up to 1024x768 (65535 colors) internally, 1280x1024 (256 colors) on an external monitor. (The full specs say something about 1280x1024 internal in "virtual display mode", but I don't see a setting for this in the video control panel)
[*] Integrated sound (SoundBlaster-compatible) with built-in speakers and microphone
[*] Internal CD-ROM
[*] Internal 28.8kbps modem
[*] External floppy drive (can also be installed in CD-ROM bay)
[*] Clean Windows 98SE install with all patches and drivers
[*] Shareware VAG-COM installed and tested. Cable not included![/list]
Full specs can be found here.
VAG-COM capable. I finally consolidated to a single laptop, so I don't need this one anymore.
The battery seems to be in decent shape considering its age. As a test, I disabled all power management and, after a half hour of no activity, ran a full Scandisk on battery (starting at a full charge). Total time on battery at the end of the Scandisk (528,155 clusters) was 1 hour, 12 minutes, and the manager reported the battery level at 52%. Your mileage may vary, of course.
This laptop was a travel system in it's previous life, so it's not in 100% pristine shape. The tabs that lock the screen closed are broken off, and there are a few marks and scuffs on the case. There's a little circular discoloration on the screen right above where the pointer is on the keyboard (probably from someone putting pressure on it while the screen was closed). The power socket on the back is missing the sleeve, so the power cable fits very loose and needs to have upward pressure in order to make contact and charge the battery. As seen in the picture, I jury-rigged it with a bit of Velcro and it works fine.
But all in all, it's a good working machine, perfect for seeing hazardous duty in the garage. Couple of the pics turned out fuzzy; I think my digital camera has reached the end of it's useful life. I'll try to get some clearer ones this evening.
