2001 tdi 2001 and jetta 2000 tdi

I am a newbie. I live in Fremont New Hampshire and I am looking for a TDI mechanic.
The 2000 w/109000 miles, 50 mph check engine lights comes on after 1 minute of starting and does not go off.
The 2001 w/115000 miles 51 mph check engine light comes on sporadically but the main problem is accelerating. I have had the problem in the pass and replaced the mass airflow and the problem was solved. This time, with the replacement, the accelerating only increase 25%. i drive both cars and the accelerating is very different. I never replaced the mass air flow on the 2000.

What are the codes related to the check engine light?

HermTDI is in Maine. Look him up.

I have not had the codes checked. The last time I had the code check 2 years ago ,for a different problem, was VW service. I prefer not paying their prices.
