On the old 8v engines in the cabriolets, there was a dual pole oil pressure sender. this allowed you to run an oil pressure gauge as well as the idiot light / buzzer.

I'm ordering gauges for my TDI from 42draft designs. They sell this:

Couldn't you just use a dual pole sender??

Yah, a dual pole sender would work, as long as the pressure switch met the same specs as the stock one (normally open/closed, same pressure limit).

Aternately, you can use a "tee" to install sender and switch in the stock location of the switch. That's much simpler than the kit shown...

I have that kit on our NB. Works well, with the hose extension making it easier for you to check for any leaks. Make sure you use some teflon tape on the stock sender when screwed into the 42draft piece, otherwise it could leak.
