Hello, Im new to the forums but Ive had my jetta for a while now. I do almost all of my own work to it, and there has been alot. My jetta has over 400k miles on it atm.
Here recently I was driving and when I pulled away from a stop sign the engine began to make a loud rattling sound. I turned it off and we towed it back to my house. We started it back up and found that my crankshaft pulley was shot and was basicly flopping around because of the rubber dampener was completely gone. This was an easy fix but once I replaced it we found that there was now another rattle seemingly inside the engine. We have now taken off the top valve cover and can see the overhead camshaft. We ran the engine and everything seems to be perfectly fine that we can see... but we still can here the knocking and rattle.
I took a video of it and Ill post it shortly if I can. Im really at a loss as to the problem and I want to make sure I dont tear the engine apart and find out it has nothing to do with it.
