Hi all,

here is some info you might like.
My a6 3.0L dynoed 461hp and 885nm and I have been driving it for 85.000km like this now. car has total of 205.000 km

Before this anoying dude shimes in about fake or bad dyno figures :) My car is as fast as an c63s AMG from 100 to 200, can't overtake him but he cannot overtake me neither.

Couple of weeks ago on the highway I lost 6th gear and a lot of metal noise.

After dismantling:

- The SSP clutches look like new
- The pinions of the 6th gear are gone

After several phone calls to "specialists":

- I did not found a single person who actually works on these gearboxes. Only comment they come up with is you need a new one.

So stubborn as I am I found a second hand one that had an electronics problem from a Q5. The 6th gear has the same ratio so I changed the pinions.

It was quiet an adventure but she's back together and I'll have the gearbox back under the car on sunday (I hope)

So far no issues on 420hp dl501 pushing 850nm on the q5. Just broke a driveshaft 2 weeks ago after a hard LC .
Mine instead is starting to show some wear even with 17bar clutch pressure. Soon ill put some nice clutches rated 1300nm.
To measure 100-200 use dragy or pgear. Nice tools.

Dima Deka Clutches from Ukraine. Best of the best. Some running 1000whp and 8.4s/402m on those in the RS3 community.
The 850nm Q5 is already using them for 3 months now, flawless.

I have 85000 km with mine and they are definitely stronger then the 6th gear pinions :D

That is great info! Once my warranty is up on my Jetta I want to tune it and the dsg. I have flywheel chatter now so I know I’ll have to replace it before I tune. Might upgrade the clutch while I’m at it. Thanks gents!

With a great tune your stock clutch holds 550-600nm or more. Its been tested so many times. Look at the 2.0 tfsi community to see who tunes their dsg. Unitronic, Iroz motorsport and a few others.

Do these use similar clutches as the DQ500 used in the RS3/Transporter/Tiguan etc?

The vane-type variable displacement transmission oil pump in the DL501 supplied from Gates has my personal handiwork in its design. Glad it wasn't the part that failed.
