VCDS Not Recognizing Audi a3 97 AGR

CAn any one tell me how much wires I sould have in my ODB2 plug so that I can check if I have any missing. Thanks

I know it's 16pin but I'm not sure on how many wires, are you using the genuine rosstech cable or one of those aftermarket ones because if it's an aftermarket they can be a real pain to get them to work sometimes apparently.

my plug has 4 wires in total one in pin 4,5, 7, 16 is it correct as it isn't respodinf to VCDS checked wires 16 and 4 with meter and reads + 12v. Regards
