running fine then loss of power

My '98 was running fine, rattling and buzzing along, when I felt and heard something "go" in the engine. Then the car lost power, but continued to run ok otherwise. It reminded me of the time my intercooler hose came loose, but no increase in smoke. Now the car starts ok, after going above parking lot speeds it surges once, then runs ok, but the boost and EGT won't go very high, and it can't maintain speed up steepish hills. Other than the power issue the car starts and runs fine. Nothing appears loose or leaking, at least more than normal.

Go? You need to check those boost pipes and look for any small cracks or splits, I reckon you'll have one.

Lol, you haven't had much luck so far

Gofaster has an excellant "how to diagnose low power" at the top of this page. Go through it and, if no change, then perhaps others will try to help.
