Sun roof has rough opening and closing

My '01 Jetta sunroof slides over several dry spots. Silicone spray on the track seemed to help for a little while. Any thoughts? Would WD-40 be any different than silicone?

Don't use WD-40, it is too thin and will only be a temporary fix. Clean the track and use white lithium grease.

Go to the dealer & get the grease for the sunroof it will not wash off or attract dirt. I have tried a lot of different grease & that was the only one that worked. The down side is the tube is 90 grams around 8 oz for $20. Part # G-000-450-02
