Hey all. So I think the hydraulic ram(s) that aide in lifting the trunk lid might be shot in my car. It's harder to lift and just slams down if you let it go. Anyway any advice on this? Is there something I can look for or do or test before I just buy new ones to put in? Or could it be something else? Any input is appreciated! It started this winter when it got really cold and hasnt gotten better

Usually when those guys go bad they're done for. A friend of mine didn't want to shell out a huge amount for new ones on his car so he picked some up used from the scrapyard - just make sure they are in OK shape!

They're air springs. When they're dead they're dead. Get them at your local auto parts store.

Just an update. Got two new air Springs at Napa. Were about $22 each. As posted took 5 min to install. Works great now. The dealer wanted almost $90 a spring!
