Fuel pump whine?

2013 Jetta Sportwagen
New to me 2013 Sportwagen, 44k miles. It has what I assume is the HPFP whining, will whine for a bit even after shutoff. I've heard of fuel pump issues with these cars. This normal for VW TDI?

FWIW< my 6.0 Ford diesel whines like hell, always has though.

Yeah, my 2010 has done that since I got it at 7400mi.
There’s an abrupt cutoff to the sound vs slowly dying down, so I always assumed it was just putting things in order post run.

Are you sure its not the EGR system (valve) calibration when you shut the vehicle down?

The metering unit can also make some noise after shutdown.

There are just too many to list....
It isn't the HPFP. It is the throttle flaps and EGR valves doing their shut down sweep. Normal.
