Urban Myth-Stealership says no TDIs for 2004 or 2005

The story goes like this - my husband's best friend goes to the VW stealership near his hometown in NY and is told that VW won't be selling TDI Volkswagons in the US between 2004-2005, so buy one now. Now either this dealer is trying pawn off all of his older cars or ... well that has to be it, I can't imagine this would be true. Can anyone either confirm or deny this?

It is true in NY, CA, MA, VT and ME. Not true in the rest of the country.

Yes, if he wants a TDI he should by one now. But I don't think VW plans to start selling them again after 2005 in those states.

yes, just those states... TDI IS available in 2004, heck its in their computer ordering system... I orderd a 2004 golf tdi a few weeks ago
