48 is very good as the weather warms you should see even better numbers.

Nice, if you haven't done the ventectomy mod....do it, you can add about 1.5-2.0 extra gallons and hit 800 miles in a tank if you fill it yourself.

I did several 1,000 mile tanks in my A4 Jetta - took about 16.1 gallons when refueling. Did not run it dry either. 800 mile tanks are no big deal for an A4. Keep your speed down - 55 mph is where it's at for maximum range on a tank. If you always drive 65+ no way one can do 900+ mile tanks.

Thanks guys... All good advice! I did the ventectomy about two tanks ago. It made a big difference. I have nozzles in the mail.....and a tune will be coming next. Im hoping that doesnt spoil my mileage. :/

Good looking car! Congrats

I have an 11mm pump and bigger nozzles. My best tank pre mod was 59mpg. Best I've seen since has been around 48.

Thanks guys! I love the wagons! I have gone the lifted lighted route... not everyone's cup of tea but I like it and it has proven to be practical. I run a lot of rough back/mountain roads in all weather. I also just picked up a panzer plate and have a set of general grabbers on their way!

If it will help your fears any, at 14.5 gallons fill, you still should have quite a bit of fuel left (edit: IF VENTED). I've been getting 700+ miles per tank all winter, and I fill up on average 5 times per month. My fill-ups are almost always 16 gallons, and I fill to the cap. I try not to drive more than 30 miles after the low fuel warning. 16 Gallons in a wagon should be possible afaik.

Now do the ASR mod to this and you won't have much if any troubles getting stuck.

Yes it's traction control/automatic stability. Get an abs pump from the wreckers with asr and the switch and enable with vcds. Search the forum for asr retrofit.

Pa, sucks for fuel prices... one of the highest in the US... :) we just got a +.39 text increase over the past year. 87oct was $1.80 about a year ago....now its back up. I was paying almost $5 per gallon for diesel about 4 years ago so Im happy with $2.99. :)

Here in Sacramento, the Chevron near the rail yards - where UP fuels their Hi-Rail diesel work trucks - ULSD is $2.89

That will soon - courtesy of our anti-motor vehicle Guv - soon increase circa .30 cents/gallon.

I am seriously thinking of relocating.
