Default Did Ferdinand Piëch lose his job due to Dieselgate?

This article says that there is a lot of evidence indicating that yes, Piech was fired because he knew about Dieselgate.

It's possible, found this other article claiming Piech knew and lost out to Winterkorn:

If it is true more problems for VW.

From Automobile Magazine - April 2015
Gives a good account of Piech's rise to power and subsequent fall --

Don't conflate his job with his position on the board. He retired from his job in the mid-2000s after the Touareg V10 and Phaeton were introduced. It's speculated that he lost his seat on the board due to not playing ball with Dieselgate.

Which would explain why he was quick to throw Winterkorn under the bus in a recent interview.

Funny how short sighted companies are when it comes to employees at times.

He promised poor little Dieselgate all week that he'd play ball with him...little Diesel had his heart set on it...even oiled up his glove. He just needs to make time for Diesel.
