My wife totaled her ALH Jetta last month. I finally got around to testing the engine and trans. The engine works fine.

The trans mounts are busted where the bolts go through the end of the trans.
Is there a fix for that? I've hear ECS has one but I can't find it.

The bolts are out. The tangs on the end are broken.

Ok what we did was use an electricians drill to drill through the frame rail to center the hole in the next step. Then a 1/2 in hole saw through the frame. We put in a through bolt and used a socket going through the 1/2 inch hold to hold the nut.

The tangs are broken off of the transmission. What would I attach the bolts to?

You mean the female threaded parts that the horizontal bracket-to-trans housing bolts thread into? A picture of the damage would help a lot. Depending on the damage, you may or may not be able to fix it with a timesert. I would imagine some welding to the housing may be necessary, but I don't know how reliable a weld on cast aluminum is going to be. It it's possible to weld some aluminum pieces onto the trans housing, then you can use a timesert to fix the threads.
