The way your brake booster works is when you let off of the brakes, the vacuum is vented into the cabin. Most likely you will need to replace your master cylinder because it is leaking fluid into the booster.

My guess is that the brake fluid is deteriorating the diaphragm in the booster making the fluid turn black so the booster should probably be replaced as well.

Yeah, sounds like a leaking master cylinder. Is the fluid level in the m/c low? Probably a good idea to buy a new m/c- and carry some extra brake fluid with you in the car until fixed. Brake failure is never fun.

Yeah the fluid level isnt too bad which really confused me. The braking is super hard. Does stop though.

Does the master cylinder have the electronic stabilization on the 2002 tdi?? The pricing is diffrent.??
