My final fault code. Car is a 1998 NB, 5-speed. Airbag light has been of for many months. I have cleared the code and it always comes back. I doubt that I am going to tackle whatever this is, but I would like to know as much as possible if I am going to pay someone else to try and fix it.

Anybody know where to begin on this one?

Thanks again,

Steve

I had a similar code in my Jetta for the driver's side seatbelt ignitor. I opened things up to do a bit more diagnosis and checked the resistance with a DVM at an intermediate wiring connector. When things looked OK I put things back together and tried once more to clear the code. That did it, so it appears that the problem was a loose/bad connection in the wiring. I would suggest you dig out your manual and track down the wiring for this igniter then check all the connections. Take care, as you are dealing with explosives here! Avoid any possibility of static discharges!
