OK, I went out into the garage today to install my return fuel filter kit and I ran into a snag. The mounting holes to attach the bracket are not where they are supposed to be. I do not know if this is because I have a 2009 (Mk5 chassis) or if it is because I have a Sportwagen. Anyway, this is a picture of the area where the return filter is supposed to go and the 2 Torx screws (headlight bracket) are not there.
I did some playing around and the best idea I could come up with would be to mount the return filter bracket to one of the screws that hold the stock filter canister's top. I would just (probably) have to find a longer screw for this position. This is a pretty tight fit and the new return filter would rub on the stock filter canister's cover mounting "ear' as well as on the rubber cover for the high beam headlight bulb's access hole. Here is a pic of the possible mounting location.
I am curious what other members think of this arrangement and I am also curious if any other JSW or Mk5 Sedan (2009-2010) have run into this same issue. Please take a look at your car and see if you have the two mounting screws shown in 2micron's pictures, or if you will have the same issue as I have. Thanks!
Have Fun!
