problem with connecting the cable to vcds

hey! i have an old hex v2 cable that i have ordered from ebay about a year ago and it came with a cd that had vcds 17.8.1 (and drivers i guess), i have lost the cd :( and ive found the right version and installed it on my pc. but when trying to set the cable (the "test" step ) i get this message :

Buy a legitimate cable and use that. Hacker cables and software aren't supported. I doubt you get any help here with that.

Whenever you see VCDS for sale that comes with its own software CD (one that's obviously way behind the current version especially), you can pretty much be guaranteed it's not a legitimate version.

When you buy a legitimate cable, it comes with no software. You download it from Ross-Tech's website and the cable automatically authenticates as a genuine Ross-Tech cable.

Buy direct from Ross-Tech or don't bother at all.

Cracked software most likely came with some extra surprises... there is a good chance china has access to that computer.
