Flashing Glow Plug Indicator flashing while drivin

Strange thing happened this evening. 01 Jetta, 74K. On a 300+ mi trip the glow plug indi /images/graemlins/confused.gifcator light started blinking while driving at 75 mph and stayed on. Stopped, turned off engine, re-started, normal, no light for about 30 seconds after resuming driving then stayed on for 100+ miles. Tried same routine twice more, same results. About 2 miles from home, turned on high-beams, wasn't the first time, flashing stopped. ***?

Not strange at all. Sounds like the brake switch is getting flaky. Also check brake light bulbs for functioning or burned out (test with ohm meter if you can't visually tell).

Thanks, I'll check that. May have had foot on the brakes at time of initial flahing, come to think of it. Never connected that to the glow plug ind lite. Great forum, always better info here than most dealers.
