I'm restoring a 96 Passat TDI. I want to take out the front seats. What's the trick in getting them out?

There a long slender reveal trim next to the console that has to come out and there's a small cap at the rear of the rail next to the door, take that off.

In the front center there's either a spring clip or allen bolt and 10mm nut that keeps the center rail from sliding back and out. Remove that bolt (or spring clip) and then slide the seat back and out until the rear feet are out of the rails.

Tip the seat up and unplug the seatbelt connection and if you have it, the heated seat elements. Push the front back down and pickup the seat, bringing it forward and out through the front door. Be sure it's not reclined too far.
