I just changed my serpentine belt. The car was up on a jack and stands for 2 days. Parking brake engaged. Went for a test drive and the brake pedal is very stiff. Stopping power weak. Thoughts appreciated.

Thanks. I'm going to work on it Sunday. I'll be updating.

check the big hard plastic vacuum hose coming off the vacuum pump to the brake booster. Look at it closely as the crack can be hard to see sometimes.

You probably knocked a hose loose when replacing the belt. Look for that.

Thanks, everyone. It was 2 cracks in the hose between the check valve and the brake booster. I rigged temporarily using hose clamps to squeeze the cracks closed. Any recommendations where I can buy a BOOSTER VACUUM HOSE for less than $54? Thanks again.

You could try using self-fusing silicone tape. Wipe off the hose clean then wrap tightly around it. It's worked for me for more than a year so far. I got the tape from the 99 cent store.

If the ends are good you could always cut them off and clamp them to section of pipe. I've used coated brake line as vacuum line substitute in the past.

I ordered Silicone Rubber Self Fusing tape from Amazon. It's split on both ends where the connections are made. I'll try $5 before I spend $70 with shipping for a new vacuum hose. I'll take pics of the repair and post.

Thanks, guys for recommending the infusing tape. I ordered from Amazon for $4. It fixed the leaks and has been working fine for 3 weeks.
