Smacked my steering wheel, now airbag light

ODBII only shows engine and emissions related problems. If you want to talk to your airbag controller, you will need a VW specific scan tool. A generic ODBII scanner knows nothing about airbags, brakes, etc. It is only required by law to show emissions issues.
