Turbo Problems, Help!

let me premise with the fact that I'm not a motorhead. I know enough to get by, but even then I'm genuinely hopeless. That said:

I was accelerating up a hill last night at around 50 in 4th gear and I lost major power. I suspected the turbo valve and I pulled over, restarted and the turbo was working fine.

This morning, it happened again but the problem has now become more pervasive and persistent. The warning light is on and I have ZERO power climbing hills and accelerating off the line. I can't hear the blow-off from the turbo and it's obvious it isn't working.

I dropped it off at Dubbles VW/Audi/Volvo specialists in Bernville, PA (for those of you in the area) and they'll take a look at it on Monday, but I'd like som feedback so I know what to discuss when I speak with them.

Any ideas???!!! You guys think it could merely be a problem with the release valve? If so, any hope of keeping this under $250-300?! I just bought the f*****g thing used 2 weeks ago (2002 Jetta TDi) and now this...

Your turbo is probably fine. You're overboosting and hitting limp mode because your N-75 might be going out, or you could have carboned up vanes in the turbo (needs cleaning). The N-75 is like $80 from the dealer and takes only a few minutes to replace.

Go over and buy 9' of 4mm vaccum line, replace all lines of that size one at a time.

intake could also be clogged.

I'm new too, but this forum has helped me a bunch:) I had a similar power loss problem. I believe my issue was turbo vanes that needed freed up. Also, when I shut the car off and restarted, things worked fine - until the next moring... As recommended in the forums, the "Italian tune up" seemed to help me (run the piss out of it with higher acceleration rpms to free up the vanes). After things hopefully working fine, make sure to shift at high enough rpms going forward as well ~2500 with cold engine and >3000 when warm as described - don't baby the engine.
