2010 golf tdi gas door

Hi. I have a 2010 golf tdi with a build date of may 2010.
I notice the fuel door is plastic. My friend has a 2010 golf tdi
with a build date of December 2009 and the fuel door is metal.
did they change to plastic fuel door? Thanks

Hmm ours was 05/25/10 and it's plastic too. Never gave it much of a thought other then it seemed kind of cheap.

even if they look identical, that's not the kind of sign you like to see from your auto-maker:(

FWIW the fuel door on our 2008 Mercedes C300 is plastic too - and has a big scratch in it :mad:

I think my Jetta's is metal though!

Might have to do with build location. It always irked me that my Brazilian-built MK4 GTI had the plastic fuel door, the paint just doesn't reflect the same way fresh off a detail.

i take it back - definitely plastique, "and thus - quite lame!" (anyone?)

they had me fooled, though... i can't see even a hint of variation from the door to the body.
i'll just file this under "wish i hadn't opened THAT thread" ;)
