Intercooler Icing

Anbody have intercooler icing troubles lately? I had nasty bout yesterday after week of cold weather we had. Trying to start, engine sputtered then hydro-locked. I waited a while before cranking again, a couple of cylinders fired, then it just turned over quickly with no apparent combustion. Several more start attempts with no luck, I called VW road service. On hold while CAA was being dispatched, I cranked engine again and thankfully it started. Got home alright and all seems OK today.
Expecting to turn in my Jetta for the buyback later this year, so hoping to avoid major repair issues!

Not yet this year, but today could be that day. Have had it in the past, last time I did an oil change, I opened the 'downpipe' and there was no water in it.
