My wife's 2005 automatic Golf got rear ended a year ago (distracted woman on her cell phone) and the body is pretty well tweaked, the cloth interior is not easy to clean and I'm not in love with the car anymore. I bought it back as a salvage for $1200.
My engine has a 127K miles on it and the DSG transmission shifts smoothly. Old Poopie just put a cam sensor, timing belt kit and a lift pump last month so it's all set for another few years. Aaron did a +1.5 Malone tune a few years ago.
I'd like to see if there are any clean donor Golfs or Jetta Wagons of that specific vintage with a bad engine/transmission.
Short of that, do we have any body shop connections who can just do a simple frame alignment so i don't have to yank and slam the passenger doors? I'm in the SF Bay Area. Hmm, College of Marin has an auto repair section now that I think about it.
