Cabin Fan

One day about a month ago my cabin fan just stopped working. I hit a bump and it came back on. Lately, when it's cold, the fan makes a very loud noise until the car is warmed up. I asked a VW tech about this, and he says it'll need to be replaced and could go out at any time. I'm not under warranty anymore (31K, 2000 Golf) and I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get a cabin fan cheaper than the dealer. Its 359 CND or 230 USD.

Well at www.vwparts.com the fan motor p/n #1J1819021B is $183.03 USD.

And then you could call Jim Royston aka www.dieselgeek.com at
1 (866) 375-4335 as his www.vwpartscentral.com says they are out of stock so you have to call them.

Mine failed on my 2002 and I am lucky in that I was at 34,000 miles and the 2002 has 50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Of course no maintenance is free either.
