Hi all,
Please excuse the long-windness.
Been digging around in here for a while to solve my worries and now could really use some help!!!
I have a Y2K Golf TDI with >120,000 KM. Recently I noticed that the power was touch and go, first instinct was the MAF since its happened before. So into the dealership I went and along with the idea of the MAF I asked them to change the TB, Tensioner, Water Pump, Fuel filter and to check the intake manifold (again). Since they did not have a MAF in stock I left expecting to still have sluggish acceleration and plumes of smoke at startup (they found little build up in the intake and (EGR cooler?)).
Well this was the case and so after reading that one can dissconnect the MAF to confirm if this is the culprit I tried it. No Change. I even tried to clean it with high grade electronics cleaner (read:last ditch attempt)
So here is where I am at, when I rev the engine in neutral as the needle spins past about 1500 on the way to around 2500 the engine noticably stutters and hesitates. The power I get out of it is sometimes better than others but all around weak and subject to heavier smoke at times. When they did the TB they noticed a leaking fuel line and replaced it but thats about it. I haven't ripped apart the airbox etc to get at the snow screen but I don't live in an area with a lot of airborne debris.
Please, I cant stand to watch her suffer any longer
TIA,
Jason.
