VCDS-lite, Immo1/2 Adaptation.

Hello, my friends ECU stopped working so he got a new one, but now it seems we will have to adapt it to the new cluster/immobilizer?
I'm not sure if its an immobilizer 1 or 2 but my question is:
Will I be able to adapt the ECU using VCDS-lite? Will it be different if it is an immo 1 or 2?
I've got a cable that supports VCDS-lite.
If it was my money I would just buy the program and tried. But since its my friends money I can't really tell him to buy the stuff.

The full version of VCDS-Lite, $99, can do the adaptations for Immobilizer 1, 2 and 3 provided you already have the PIN information needed. Our wiki website has the instructions:

Our software does not decrypt PIN information.
