Tach and alternator wiring

AAZ swapped 2000 tacoma
Had a couple questions for my swap. It's an 05 bhw. Tach output is normally sent along canbus. I have a Dakota digital signal adapter. Can I tap into the crank position or even cam position sensor without it messing up the signal to the ecu?

Has anyone figured out a way to get a check engine light working on these swaps?

Last question is related to the alternator. It's for the main post to the battery then a plug with 2 blue wires. 1 goes to ecu. The other looked like it went into one of the connectors but I'm not sure what happened to it after. Is the ecu wire the signal that turns the alternator on or am I meant to trigger it another way?
