where is this oil coming from?

where is this oil coming from? See pic. It looks like the oil is coming from the valve cover seal and also the right side of the engine? The valve cover hasn't been touched ever that I can remember. Unless they took it off when the turbo was replaced about 5 years ago. https://imgur.com/a/6LLcEeb

Sorry, wasn't expecting a BEW... ALH cars are notorious for the vacuum pump seals leaking...not the slightest bit familiar with BEWs, sorry

Nope. I got busy with other things and haven't followed up. I'll update this thread if I ever find out.

Thx, mine looks very similar and has gotten worse. Oil has coated the back of the block. I suspect the tandem pump seals. Since I was placing an order with tdiparts I ordered the gasket and vacuum pump seal. I figured it would be a <$20 fix if that was it. The other thing I think it could be is the valve cover gasket...We will see.
